On 15th January, the governing body met for their first meeting of the calendar year. After agreeing to the previous meeting's minutes, Mr Cowling's headteacher report was discussed. Pupil numbers were discussed before attention turned to the quality of education.  This included an overview of the most recent assessment data and follow-up actions from each year group.  Mrs Cotton also gave an update regarding the latest developments in the reading provision across school.  This included the changes to provision, impact on outcomes as well as monitoring in school and by governors. Other school priorities were discussed too and this included an update from Mr Coupland regarding subject leadership development, curriculum development and ongoing staff training regarding cognition and retrieval opportunities. Governor Meeting 22nd May 2023

On Monday 22nd May, the governing body met.  The meeting started with the introduction of our new governors, Adam Collins and Anna Thomas.  We look forward to them taking an active role in the school community and know that they will both bring valuable knowledge and experience to the committee.   After approving the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewing our action tracker, attention turned to Mr Cowling's report.  Whilst discussing key news, Mr Cowling gave an update regarding current pupil numbers and projected numbers for September 2023.  Our recent Ofsted inspection report, which judged Fosse Way Academy as a 'Good school', was also discussed.       Quality  of Education was the next area to be discussed.  Mr Coupland gave an update regarding curriculum development priorities in school.  This included an overview of the school’s curriculum development over the last few years along with the current priorities which are:  - Sticky knowledge and skills review

  Governor Blog - 20th March 2023 This evening’s meeting began with a focus on Special Educational Needs.  Fosse Way’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo), Mrs Lee, joined us to discuss her recent report.   Mrs Lee responded to questions regarding various aspects of the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision.  This included an update regarding the types of support and activities which take place in The Nest.  It was interesting to hear about examples of provision such as: Social and emotional support to help children understand, identify and regulate their emotions and social interactions. Golden Lunches to celebrate success. Super Starts which provide a supportive, positive start to the school day. Various other examples of bespoke provision to support children. Mrs Lee also gave updates regarding the wider SEND provision along with an overview of the types of external provision available to and being used by the school.  Each

Governor Meeting 16th January 2023

On Monday evening (16th January 2023) the governors met for the latest Full Governing Body meeting. As always, we started by approving the minutes of the previous meeting. Next we discussed key news which included an overview of the Holiday Activities and Food Club which was led by Premier Education during the Christmas holiday. The following item on the agenda was a review of the recent staff survey.  It was excellent to see so many positives being highlighted in the survey.  Any points to consider or develop further are already part of the current School Development Plan or are being addressed through alternative methods.  Overall the outcomes of the survey were positive and it was agreed that it had been a useful exercise. Governor Meeting Monday 21st November 2022

On Monday 21st November, the governors met for both the Annual General Meeting, which included a review of the academy accounts from our external auditors, and the latest Full Governing Body meeting. During the AGM, our external auditors shared and discussed our annual end-of-year accounts and reports.  The governors’ questions and comments were responded to by the auditor throughout the meeting. Following the AGM, our FGB meeting began.  After the usual standing agenda items, including agreeing to the minutes of our previous meeting, Mr Cowling shared key headlines.  This included current pupil numbers, information regarding teaching unions and the recent open sessions for prospective reception and nursery children for the next academic year. Full Governing Body Meeting - 11th July 2022

Our latest meeting was held on the evening of 11th July. The first item on the agenda was Quality of Education. Mrs Bingham's Team Leader report was discussed which gave us an update regarding the provision and standards in EYFS.  Mrs Bingham explained about the positive impact of Read Write Inc to phonics and shared plans to introduce Number Sense next year too. Mrs Pennington then shared an update regarding some of her school visits linked to the RE curriculum.  Mr Coupland shared the Year 6 SATs data headlines and we were able to compare our data to the national average.  Mrs Caldwell's recent monitoring visit report was also discussed. Whilst discussing Mr Cowling's headteacher report, we heard about recent staff training linked to outdoor learning - a key part of our vision and curriculum design.   Our latest meeting was held on 16th May 2022.   We were joined at the start of the meeting by Year 1 and 2 team leader, Mrs Cotton, who responded to questions related to her report on teaching and learning standards in Key Stage One.  She updated us regarding the phonics provision across the key stage and how this has been refined throughout the year.   We also spent time discussing science and some of the exciting practical activities the children have been completing linked to exploring seeds and bulbs as well as opportunities to grow plants.  The newly implemented Class Dojo reward system was also discussed and it was pleasing to hear how positively the children have engaged with this.  Mr Coupland also explained that the KS2 children were also responding very positively to the system.  Mrs Cotton was thanked for joining the meeting before she left.   Next, we spent time reviewing and agreeing the minutes of our previous meeting and updated our action tracker.   Attention th
