We welcomed two new members to our Governing Body tonight, who bring with them a wealth of experience and wide range of skills;  Welcome to Catherine and Gemma! We are pleased to have both on board and are really looking forward to working together for the benefit of our school and its community.

A busy agenda tonight (when isn't it!) covered a wide range of subjects. Subject-link Governors gave feedback to the group regarding their recent monitoring visits to school; We discussed the report from our Independent Education Consultant and this will lead to further dissection in our next Standards Sub-Committee. Speaking of which, our Sub Committee Chairpersons gave their reports on the latest round of meetings.
We looked at parking arrangements around school and the impact it is having, and may have in the future. As always, child safety is our main concern and we will support whatever initiatives make the roads around school safer for our community.
We talked about future plans for our wraparound care and added it to our next meeting agenda for a deeper discussion.
Our Chair of Governors, Helen, informed us about her recent networking opportunities with other local governing bodies and the possibility of Fosse Way hosting networking and training events for fellow Lincolnshire governors.
A jam-packed and productive meeting, and as always the children were at the heart of the discussions.
Our next meetings are scheduled for 1st April and these are will be Finance and Standards Sub-Committee meetings.

On Monday 22nd May, the governing body met.  The meeting started with the introduction of our new governors, Adam Collins and Anna Thomas.  We look forward to them taking an active role in the school community and know that they will both bring valuable knowledge and experience to the committee.   After approving the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewing our action tracker, attention turned to Mr Cowling's report.  Whilst discussing key news, Mr Cowling gave an update regarding current pupil numbers and projected numbers for September 2023.  Our recent Ofsted inspection report, which judged Fosse Way Academy as a 'Good school', was also discussed.       Quality  of Education was the next area to be discussed.  Mr Coupland gave an update regarding curriculum development priorities in school.  This included an overview of the school’s curriculum development over the last few years along with the current priorities which are:  - Sticky knowledge and skills review

Governor Meeting 20th March 2023

  Governor Blog - 20th March 2023 This evening’s meeting began with a focus on Special Educational Needs.  Fosse Way’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo), Mrs Lee, joined us to discuss her recent report.   Mrs Lee responded to questions regarding various aspects of the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision.  This included an update regarding the types of support and activities which take place in The Nest.  It was interesting to hear about examples of provision such as: Social and emotional support to help children understand, identify and regulate their emotions and social interactions. Golden Lunches to celebrate success. Super Starts which provide a supportive, positive start to the school day. Various other examples of bespoke provision to support children. Governor Blog January 15.1.24

On 15th January, the governing body met for their first meeting of the calendar year. After agreeing to the previous meeting's minutes, Mr Cowling's headteacher report was discussed. Pupil numbers were discussed before attention turned to the quality of education.  This included an overview of the most recent assessment data and follow-up actions from each year group.  Mrs Cotton also gave an update regarding the latest developments in the reading provision across school.  This included the changes to provision, impact on outcomes as well as monitoring in school and by governors. Other school priorities were discussed too and this included an update from Mr Coupland regarding subject leadership development, curriculum development and ongoing staff training regarding cognition and retrieval opportunities.
