Full Governing Body Meeting - 11th July 2022

Our latest meeting was held on the evening of 11th July.

The first item on the agenda was Quality of Education. Mrs Bingham's Team Leader report was discussed which gave us an update regarding the provision and standards in EYFS.  Mrs Bingham explained about the positive impact of Read Write Inc to phonics and shared plans to introduce Number Sense next year too.

Mrs Pennington then shared an update regarding some of her school visits linked to the RE curriculum.

Mr Coupland shared the Year 6 SATs data headlines and we were able to compare our data to the national average.  Mrs Caldwell's recent monitoring visit report was also discussed.

Whilst discussing Mr Cowling's headteacher report, we heard about recent staff training linked to outdoor learning - a key part of our vision and curriculum design.

Our artist in residence, Charlotte Tupper, continues to work in school, currently with the Y3/4 pupils.

Safeguarding, behaviour and welfare was also discussed which included hearing about the current work of the Family Support Worker and inclusion team. Mr Cowling also explained the school's plans to further develop our children's Cultural Capital, anti-discrimination, equality and human rights awareness. This will include working alongside JUST Lincolnshire.

Next Mr O'Halloran gave a finance update which included an explanation of the new school budget which was agreed by the governing body.

Discussions then turned to the children's personal development. It was fantastic to hear about the number of events which have taken place or are due to take place this term which will enable children to perform in front of an audience and receive applause - another important element of our school vision. This included:
  • Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with a whole school picnic, music, singing and assemblies,
  • Sports Days with families in attendance for the first time since the pandemic,
  • Y1/2 and Y5 performances,
  • Musical Showcase,
  • Celebration Evening.
Mr Cowling gave a staffing update for September and shared the staff training log which demonstrated the wide range of professional development being provided to staff.

Our next meeting will be held in the new academic year.
