Our latest meeting was held on
16th May 2022.
We were joined at the start of the meeting by Year 1 and 2 team leader,
Mrs Cotton, who responded to questions related to her report on teaching and
learning standards in Key Stage One. She updated us regarding the phonics
provision across the key stage and how this has been refined throughout the
year. We also spent time discussing science and some of the
exciting practical activities the children have been completing linked to
exploring seeds and bulbs as well as opportunities to grow plants. The
newly implemented Class Dojo reward system was also discussed and it was
pleasing to hear how positively the children have engaged with this. Mr
Coupland also explained that the KS2 children were also responding
very positively to the system. Mrs Cotton was thanked for joining the
meeting before she left.
Next, we spent time reviewing and agreeing the minutes of our previous
meeting and updated our action tracker.
Attention then turned to Mr Cowling's Headteacher's Report which
included the usual key headlines regarding pupil numbers, attendance,
quality of education, health and safety, behaviour and welfare, safeguarding,
school development plan and leadership and management.
When discussing the quality of education, Catherine Caldwell gave an
update regarding some of the work she has completed in school during. This
has included work scrutiny sessions with teachers across Y1 to 6, pupil
interviews and SATs monitoring. We also discussed the wider curriculum
and were pleased to see that some of the artwork produced by our Year 5 and 6
children has been on public display at The Hub in Sleaford.

The next section of the report focused on the personal development of
our pupils. There are a wide range of activities planned in over the
summer term:
· Sports Days,
· Y1/2 and Y5
performances,
· Musical Showcase,
· Celebration Evening.
· A range of sports
festivals and competitions alongside other schools,
· Celebrating the
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 27th May.
Opportunities such as these are a key element of our vision statement
and both staff and governors are very pleased that they are now possible again
following the removal of Covid restrictions. Mr Cowling also shared the
school's plans to review and further develop cultural capital throughout our
curriculum. This is something the governors will be actively involved in.
Finance was next on the agenda and Mr O'Halloran gave his usual
update. This included reviewing the current financial picture, maintenance projects
and wraparound provision.
Our final meeting of the academic year is on 11th July.
