On 15th July, the Full Governing Body met for the final meeting of the academic year.


After welcoming our new governor, Ashley Moat, the minutes of the previous meeting were agreed and the Action Tracker was reviewed.


The first agenda item tonight was finance and budgeting.  Mr O'Halloran provided an update regarding the current financial picture for this year along with the proposed budget for next year.  Following discussions, the new budget was approved.


Next, discussions turned to our updated action plan and our next actions and priorities were identified.  


Following this, Mr Cowling's Headteacher's report was discussed.  This included the usual updates regarding pupil numbers and some of the many successes the school is currently celebrating.  Examples include being shortlisted for the Lincolnshire Tech Business of the Year, the wide range of sporting competitions the children have participated in and, most recently, the school football team being crowned as both league and regional champions.


During the update regarding the quality of education, we initially focused on the outcomes of the most recent Year 6 data and the end-of-year assessments.  Headline figures were discussed along with current priorities and actions across the school.


It was pleasing to hear that attendance across schools remains above the national average and persistent absence levels remain below.


As always, children across the school have accessed a wide range of personal development opportunities this term.  Some of the opportunities included:

  • Y5 Bikeability

  • Y1&2 Performance of Around the World

  • Transition Meetings and days for Y6 Pupils at their new secondary schools

  • Transition Day at Fosse Way - pupils spend the day with their new teachers

  • Transition events for Nursery and new Reception pupils

  • Holiday Camps - delivered by Premier Education during half-term

  • Sports Days

  • Parkour Event

  • Triathlon Event

  • Year 6 performance to parents

  • Celebration Evening

  • Year 1 Sports Competitions NK Academy 

Our next meeting will be on 23rd September.

A packed agenda at tonight's Full Governors meeting meant the coffee pot(s) got drained. We started the evening with our external auditors financial report from our accountants, Baldwins Audit Services. After the Head Teacher's report, we looked at attendance and the issues around the topic of term time holidays. We then looked at the School Development Plan and how governors will be involved over the forthcoming year. The School Development Plan includes improving outcomes in maths and english, the mental health of members of our school, the continuing personal development of staff, and improving the provision and outcomes for groups of pupils across the curriculum. Governors are looking forward to being involved. We are currently looking for additional members of our governing body. Full Governing Body Meeting - 22nd November 2021

Prior to beginning our full governing body (FGB) meeting, we received a summary of our previous annual budget reports from our auditors, Azets.  The first item on our FGB meeting agenda was a report from the Year 3 and 4 team leader, Michelle Deakin.  The report included a thorough overview regarding the standard of education across the team.  It was fantastic to hear about the positive impact of recent guided reading and spelling staff training as well as a new online resource, 'Learning by Questions' (LbQ).  The investment in one to one iPads for our Key Stage 2 children has allowed LbQ to be used successfully across English, Maths and Science.  The report also outlined how teacher assistant deployment was being adapted in light of recent reviews linked to whole school and team specific priorities.   Catherine Caldwell asked for an update on the performance of Year 3 girls and boys in reading in comparison to their end of Year 2 teacher assessme...
